Letter of Support from the
Scarborough Agencies
Sexual Abuse Treatment Program
To Whom It May Concern,
As Coordinator of Scarborough Agencies
Sexual Abuse Treatment Program (SASAT), I am writing
to support Tricia Myles Dutcher's (Kid-Safe Founder)
endeavours. SASAT is an interagency collaborative which
provides treatment groups for children and adults who
have been impacted by the horrors of childhood sexual
abuse. With limited funds, we provide approximately
twenty sexual abuse treatment groups for these victims
in the Scarborough community. Within my position, I
have noted a lessening of promotional materials, which
provided information directed towards the prevention
of this abuse.
Tricia has created a musical play
(entitled Bugs, Bubbles and Blobs) with the theme of
awareness and prevention. She has written this play
as well as the songs in it with the intentions of performing
to all primary school-age children. She is planning
to take this into schools, appropriate children's clubs
and other programs. Tricia has made use of and continues
to make use of a group of children's mental health professionals
in Scarborough, to provide feedback and has integrated
their recommendations into her performance.
Childhood sexual abuse is a pervasive
invasion into children's bodies, homes and communities.
It must become Society's problem. As members of our
community, your support of Tricia and ours can provide
Toronto's children with information of this crucial
matter in a manner appropriate to their age and development.
Thanking you in anticipation of your
support.
Sincerely,
Dawn Forrest
Coordinator of SASAT
